Practice Overview

Jeffrey P. Kahn, MD practices psychiatry in Westchester (Scarsdale) and Manhattan (Upper West Side). Columbia trained (see below), he is now a Cornell full Professor of Psychiatry. He starts the therapeutic process with a thorough personal evaluation, including careful attention to thoughtful understanding and to clear diagnosis.

Dr. Kahn offers both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. These approaches can help with relationship, marriage, work, career and school issues - as well as with mood, depression, phobia, panic and social anxiety, OCD, psychosis, schizophrenia, and bipolar.

Though mostly in clinical practice, his training, research, writing, teaching and experience in psychotherapy and medication includes expertise in relationships, career, anxiety, depression, psychosis, heart disease, behavior in organizations, distressed executives, management and leadership, and psychiatric problems from an evolutionary perspective.

The most useful help usually includes both psychotherapy to understand relationships, work and emotions; and often medication for biologically based issues. These two approaches work very well together, but they each treat different causes of the overall problems. They both work best when circumstances and diagnoses are very well understood. Dr. Kahn completed medical school, psychiatric residency and advanced fellowship training at Columbia University. He is now a full Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at New York-Presbyterian - Weill Cornell in both Westchester (White Plains) and Manhattan (Upper East Side). He has been listed for more than 14 years in Top Doctors (Castle-Connolly Medical; New York Magazine; Westchester Magazine).
